Say No to Robin Hayes and Yes To Tim Johnson sign now
When the NCGOP Executive board meets January 15, 2011 they will choose the next NCGOP Chairman. It is believed that that board will nominate Robin Hayes.
We oppose this nomination on the grounds that;
1. When Robin Hayes announced his candidacy for the NCGOP Chair he made 4 references to his connection with grass roots activism in NC. What he eludes to is something we are not familiar with. He can only be speaking of a bygone era sometime before the Tea Parties sprung up. Robin has not made himself available to any grass roots events in the last two years. Additionally, Robin worked directly against grass roots organizations when he supported Harold Johnson in the 8th district.
2. Robin Hayes stated that he was "flat-out, completely, horizontally opposed to CAFTA," saying that "it's not in the best interests of the core constituency I represent," and that "there is no way I could vote for CAFTA". Contrary to his own words he was THE vote responsible for the loss of thousands of jobs and nearly an entire industry in NC when he voted FOR CAFTA. Congress was held in overtime while republicans worked to buy him.
3. Robin voted to give the president more direct trade authority with his deciding vote on the "Trade Act" (Fast Track Authority), which restricts congress to up or down vote; no amendments are allowed which is now being abused as presidents march toward globalism without congressional approval.
4. Robin Hayes' voting record proves him to be big government, globalist, country club politician. We hear nothing from him in regard to smaller limited government.
Robin Hayes has shown that he is unstable in matters of public policy wherein he waffles and he can be bought. His flip flopping on CAFTA and Fast Track are matters that must be considered when looking at leadership.
Is this the kind of leader the NCGOP needs?
Grass roots North Carolinians want leadership that represents smaller government, fiscal responsibility and a strong free market that is able to resist global expansion of socialism. Also we need a chairman that will work with the more than 50 NC grass roots organizations that have come about precisely because of the gross mismanagement of establishment politicians.
We believe Timothy Johnson, current vice chair is the right man for the job.
1. Tim has consistently reached out to grass roots organizations as the Vice Chairman and he has always been available to speak at events.
2. Tim's work as the founder and chairman of the Frederick Douglass Foundation has brought conservatism in a practical and meaningful way to the Republican Party and at the same time successfully bridging racial gaps.
3. Tim brings fresh ideas and will be able to draw independent voters who are tired of politics as usual as his philosophy is aligned with mainstream conservative grass roots.
By signing our petition you are telling the NCGOP executive board that you disapprove of Robin Hayes and you want Tim Johnson as our next NCGOP Chairman.
Thank You
Grass Roots Activists of North Carolina
