WE LOVE SHORNCLIFFE PIER- SAVE OUR PIER sign now
The Shorncliffe Pier is vital for local amenity of our community. It's a much-loved and well-used Brisbane icon, and a sought-out destination.
Since it opened to the community 140 years ago, the Shorncliffe Pier has been a popular vantage point attracting people who are going for a stroll, cycling, picnicking as well as being a key fishing area, and a spot for photographer capturing important moments in people's lives.
People have gathered there for over 60 years to watch the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race, have wedding and family photos taken, and drop a line in with the family to catch fish.
The Shorncliffe Pier has recently been closed off by the Brisbane City Council due to safety concerns. This is impacting significantly on community events, local businesses through loss of trade, and our enjoyment of the Shorncliffe beachfront.
We love our Pier and therefore we the undersigned call on the Brisbane City Council to urgently work with the community to protect and rebuild the Shorncliffe Pier to make it open to the community as soon as possible.
