Say No to Quad Bikes in Woondum National Park sign now
I join this petition to raise my concerns and objections to the operation of Quad Bike Tours in Woondum National Park and any other National Park of QLD
I totally object to Noosa Quad Bike Tours application No: MCU12/0012, and I request that the Sunshine Coast Regional Councillors and Mayor do not approve this application due to its detrimental ramifications on our environment, on our right to enjoy the amenity of our towns and National Parks freely and safely. I am also shocked that the council recommendations have such a disregard for our environment and our communities by putting the profiting of one man's business above the wellbeing of our communities and the protection of our environment.
I am also aware that this application for a home based business is going to conduct as a full commercial operation. This operation will constitute 12 quad bikes and 1 4WD recovery vehicle in Woondum National Park and along a narrow winding stretch of public road 2 times per day, 7 days a week and 360 days a year. This business proposal is beyond the criteria of a Home Based Business Type 3 and poses danger, harm, disturbance and loss of lifestyle to all concerned.
I categorically disagree to the use of Woondum National Park for commercial quad bike tours as it conflicts with and totally goes against the current cardinal principles that govern the national parks of Australia, which is 'to provide, to the greatest possible extent, for the permanent preservation of the area’s natural condition and the protection of the area’s cultural resources and values.'
I fully support the protection of National Parks in QLD, which constitutes only 5% of our natural heritage left for Queenslanders.
