Make The spirit of Halloween come to Ballarat sign now

Wouldn't it be wonderful for our children to really celebrate Halloween in style? Like England, our Mother country, we could bring the festivities of Halloween to Ballarat. From trick or treating, apple bobbing, and costumes. We could bring an annual Halloween festival to the lake. We could have costume competitions for the kids and teenagers, even adults and couples. Apple bobbing competitions, pumpkin carving competitions, magic shows, and carnival attractions.
Houses could register for trick or treating with the council (for safety interest of the children). They could have a cash prize for most creative Halloween decorations much like the Christmas lights competition. High school students could sign up to take children trick or treating in their local neighbourhoods.
We could even have a themed parade, from Zombies to Vampires. Whatever the annual theme. The festivities could take place over the 31 days of October. Ie: 31 days of Halloween.
It would be an event sure to bring the community together and bring in tourism revenue.
More ideas and suggestions are welcome. We need to get as many signatures as possible to bring the idea to the Ballarat City Council. If any local businesses are interested in sponsoring the event, you are most welcome.
Like Fairy Park celebrates Easter, we can hold an annual "Halloween by the lake" festival.
Please pass this petition on to all your friends and family. Just think back to then you were a child and how much you wanted to trick or treat but it wasn't something we celebrated. We can change this for our children and make our own traditions but we have to make it happen. Halloween is getting bigger every year, stores are stocking more Halloween produce every year. We can, with enough signatures, make Halloween 2012 big!
